So, as we announced this past Saturday, today we start our new series “Next BIG Thing” where we will feature startups and business ideas…And the first in this series is ‘My Wake Up Calls’ – Motivational alarm clock messages that help you get up, start your day, and stay motivated all day long.

Founder Robin B. Palmer kept wishing for an affordable personal trainer to motivate her to wake up on those dreadful early mornings and make her way to the gym to work out. Tired of not finding an affordable and practical solution, she turned her wish into a successful business and ‘My Wake Up Calls’ was born. Her product was featured as the product of the month in SHAPE magazine in July of 2009, it was Robin’s first major milestone.

My Successables Incorporated, the company that markets My Wake Up Calls, is a family company ran by Tom and Robin Palmer who are the CEO and President of the company. In addition, the husband-wife team hired John St. Augustine as their Executive Producer who previously worked as the Senior Producer for the Oprah Radio Show. The company looks forward to more sales as new content providers or “messengers” are recorded yielding new messages every month.

Robin’s team has put forward a new business plan to help fund her business and stimulate future growth. My Successables Incorporated is currently looking to increase their online sales of My Wake Up Calls, which is available at MyWakeUpCalls.net

If you’re interested in getting involved with My Wake Up Calls, help them raise funds for business expansion or become a licensed reseller, contact them here.

Getting up and staying motivated was never easier! Thanks Robin!!

We wish all the best and much success to Robin and MyWakeUpCalls.net!

Carol Burnett Interview at the L.A. Times Festival of Books

We spent the day at the L.A. Times Festival of Books yesterday. It is a wonderful annual event, with a lot to offer for the entire family.

A real highlight was attending Carol Burnett’s interview about her new autobiography, “This Time Together.” My husband and I arrived right on time. The event was sold-out, and the ballroom was packed. I brought a marketing kit about MY WAKE UP CALL® Motivational Alarm Clock™ to give to Ms. Burnett, and was praying I would be able to hand it to her. We would love to hire her to record a month of motivatonal messages!
Her interview, which lasted an hour, was wonderful. When she took her last question, I calmly walked up to her from the back of the room, past the hundreds of onlookers, security and Festival volunteers, and handed Ms. Burnett the marketing kit, right before they her whisked away. It felt like choreography!
Carol Burnett shared some very powerful, open-hearted words of wisdom. An audience member asked for advice about recovering from the recent loss of her daughter. Ms Burnett replied that you never really get over losing a child. She told her, “Keep her in your heart, and she’ll be there forever. God bless.”
God bless you back, Ms. Burnett! I just tugged on my ear to you! :)

I look forward to connecting with Ms. Burnett about recording MY WAKE UP CALL®  Motivational Alarm Clock messages!

Mind Body Connections–
When I feel stiff or cold in the morning, I’m slow to get out of bed.  Before I get out of bed, I know I need to do something to coax my body into a more cooperative state.  I was recently reminded of the value of stretching while I’m still in bed.  I first stretch and massage my arms, then my legs and feet and finally my back.

TIP FROM DR.OZ* “Rule #7: Start Your Day by Stretching
It is so important to begin each morning by stretching. You want to keep your body warm and loosened up every day, to prevent injury. Taj George suggests an exaggerated yawn, where you first take your arms up and inhale. From there, you can bend back or come forward, all the way down to touch your toes, breathe in and slowly come back up.

The stretching movements bring warmth to my muscles and joints (they feel better).  I begin breathing more deeply, and as my circulation picks up I feel alert.  After stretching for a few minutes, I’ll notice that my body will convince my mind that it really is a good idea to get up and start the day.

Most of us have gotten used to waking up to a jarring BEEP, BEEP, BEEP sound  or “alarming” news on the radio, as the alarm clock goes off in the morning.  Now you have a better way to start your day.  Now, you can awaken each morning with positive energy!

My Wake Up Call® was designed to help people achieve their goals and dreams (starting first thing in the morning).

Keeping Fit – ‘My Workout Wake Up Call’
Wake up on right side of bed with motivational clock

Cary Castagna – February 6th, 2010

Ever yell at your alarm clock? C’mon, sure you have. I admit I’ve muttered a few curse words in its direction while fumbling for the “snooze” button on the occasional early Monday morning. Excuse my French.

Anyway, now there’s an alarm clock that can talk back. But the clock I’m talking about spews out nothing but pleasant positivity designed to make you wake up and work out.

It’s called “My Workout Wake Up Call” – a unique motivational alarm clock that helps you rise and shine and then get your body in motion with inspirational messages and some orchestral music. The upbeat music has been recorded by the American Wind Symphony Orchestra (www.americanwindsymphonyorchestra.org).

Sure beats the annoying buzzer that wails from traditional alarm clocks.

Each messages lasts for up to 10 minutes to help ensure you start your day right – with a great workout.

There are a few different models. I’ve got the iPod Dock Alarm Clock and I love it. Other models include an MP3 Cube.

It’s as easy as downloading several weeks worth of messages into my iPod, plugging my iPod into the clock and then setting the clock.

The concept is based on research showing that the “mindset upon awakening influences one’s perspective as the day progresses. My Workout Wake Up Call’s unique message structure enhances
awakening uplifted with positive energy,” according to Robin B. Palmer, the creator of the cool idea.

Palmer, who is in fantastic shape herself, played lead roles in Broadway musicals for 15 years. She says that once she settled down and had a family – which was accompanied by the typically
hectic lifestyle – she kept wishing for an affordable personal trainer to inspire her to wake up and work out each morning. Of course, that never happened. So Palmer used her imagination and
technology to create My Workout Wake Up Call. And the rest, as they say, is history.
